Stream data over Wifi to your Mac or PC

Post by bitpusher1010 »

On the home page it states:
"Stream data over Wifi to your Mac or PC"
Is there an easy step by step "How to" accomplish this?

Thank you.

P.S. If this was the wrong forum to post in, please recommend correct one.

  • Put your Mac/PC's local IP in Muse Monitor settings as OSC Server IP.
  • Run Muse Lab (or other OSC receiving software) on your Mac/PC, and set it to listen to UDP 5000.
  • Press the Streaming button in Muse Monitor :-)
You can use this config file to get Muse Lab set up quickly: http://musemonitor.com/muselab_configuration.json

Thank you for your reply. However, something is very confusing. A detailed step by step is needed.

(A) I go to http://musemonitor.com/ and attempt to download "Muse Monitor". It gives me 3 choices, iOS, Android and from Amazon... nothing that says PC?

(B)
1. I download the Muse Tools (which includes MuseLab etc.) museresearchtools-3.4.2-windows-installer.exe
2. After installation, I'm reviewing the Readme file. It says
"You can read Muse Lab tutorial here:
https://sites.google.com/a/interaxon.ca ... b/tutorial"
However upon going to that URL it redirects me to:
http://developer.choosemuse.com/sdk/uni ... ng-started
Which discusses "Unity".... which appears to be for developing apps for iOS or Android

Please update your ReadMe.txt file, this is really really disorientating.

Muse Monitor is only available for mobile devices.

Muse Lab is created by Interaxon, not myself, so you'd need to contact them for changes to their website/readme.

Ok, loaded MuseLab. Opened your configuration file. No data streaming yet.
How do I determine the correct "local IP in Muse Monitor settings as OSC Server IP". Within the app it says "OSC Stream Target IP" I assume that is what you mean yes? It appears to have a valid value in there. Not sure how it got it.

The IP is the Local IP of the Mac/PC running Muse Lab.

How to find this on your Mac/PC will depends on which version of OSX/Windows you are running, there are a ton of tutorials online: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... y+local+IP

Thank you for your assistance! Got it going.

Windows- HOW TO STREAM TO YOUR PC (Step by Step):
0. Get your PC's local IP Address.
A) Click on the Start menu and type cmd. When you see the cmd applications in Start menu panel, click it or just press enter.
B) A command line window will open. Type ipconfig and press enter.
C) You'll see a bunch of information, but the line you want to look for is "IPv4 Address." The number across from that text is your local IP address.

1. Put your PC's local IP in Muse Monitor settings as "OSC Stream Target IP".

2. Run Muse Lab (or other OSC receiving software) on your PC, and set it to listen to UDP 5000.
Note for downloading Muse Lab see (URL may change in the future, if so Google "Muse Lab download"):
http://developer.choosemuse.com/tools

You can use this config file to get Muse Lab set up quickly: http://musemonitor.com/muselab_configuration.json

3. Press the Streaming button in Muse Monitor
